I'm Just Teasing

I just wanted to share a brief update on the happenings here at our rehab-house.

The other day we (my wife) decided to refinish and restore the fireplace mantle in our new/renovated kitchen.

So, here are a few teaser photos just to get your appetite budding.

The fireplace before, (during reconstruction of the new kitchen). In all it's creamy white painted trim and fake brick paneling glory....


With a little sanding, stripping, sanding, chipping, sanding and sanding....


Behind all that paint (2 coats) we found a lovely oak. We now have something that looks a little like this


And, applying the first coat of stain......we chose the Special Walnut #224.


We might have something a little like this.....



I can only imagine the possibilities.
